- Instructional Decisions/Teaching (InTask Standard # 9): Discuss the implementation process and describe
- What went well and what didn't go well during the implementation of your lesson?
- How well was the alignment to objectives and standards maintained?
- Describe any modifications made during the implementation of the lesson
I started my implementation by giving an example of a autobiography and a biography. The initial implementation went smoothly, although my arm did start to burn from holding up the book for my students to see. I would alter this part by having the book viewable on a big screen such as a smart board or projector. I ran into bumps with Kidspiration: the KWL charts will not allow you to type directly into the box- you have to create the text box yourself- now that I know this, a lesson using the KWL chart in a future lesson would go smoothly. A similar issue arose with the Venn diagrams, when students typed into the writing mode section, the writing would not show up in the designated part of the Venn diagram. We decided to create text boxes in each one, but this limited the amount we could enter in as there was not much space. I think I would prefer to use a paper version, or another program that allows you to expand the size of the diagram.
The objective for the whole lesson is to create an autobiography using the computers and to collaborate with fellow students to make edits and give ideas. The standard is to create and publish writing using keyboarding skills. These align very well, and the standard allows for flexibility in the objective.
I modified the lesson with the Venn diagrams when I realized that I wrote the lesson for two pairs of students, but I was teaching three students. We made the Venn diagram a group effort, and had one student be the typer while we went around in a circle and added ideas.
